Celebrating TA Services’ 2023 Women in the Supply Chain Honorees

Celebrating TA Services' 2023 Women in the Supply Chain Honorees

We are incredibly proud to have three members of the TA Services team named as recipients of the 2023 Women in the Supply Chain Award presented by Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive. This award honors female supply chain leaders and executives whose accomplishments, mentorship, and examples set a foundation for women at all levels of a company’s supply chain network.

The Women in Supply Chain Award was created in 2019 by Supply & Demand Chain Executive to honor women in logistics and female supply chain leaders making impressive strides in the supply chain industry. While there has been notable progress for female representation in the supply chain industry, according to a Gartner report from April 2023 cited by Supply & Demand Chain Executive, women only occupy 21% of supply chain’s VP and senior director-level positions, this is down from 2021. This is primarily attributed to mid-career women leaving organizations due to a lack of advancement opportunities.

At TA Services, we recognize the importance of providing opportunities for female leadership in logistics and supply chain management. It is an incredible honor to have our team members recognized with women leadership awards as prestigious as the Women in Supply Chain Award. We are extremely proud of these three incredible women, as well as all of the women in TA’s organization, and recognize their outstanding contributions to the TA Services team.

Dani Etkin-Spigelman, Chief Revenue Officer of TA Services Canada, Produce

As Chief Revenue Officer of TA Services’ Toronto, Ontario Canada office (formerly Scout Logistics), Dani leads the cold chain logistics services with a commitment to the safe and reliable transportation of perishable freight. As this is a newly created role within TA’s temperature-controlled department, Dani is the first-ever TA Services employee to serve in this role. TA is excited to have a female with Dani’s capacity representing and leading us in this role. Dani’s extensive knowledge of cold chain logistics and her commitment to providing the best experience possible for shippers and carrier partners made her a predominant choice for this new position.

We’re incredibly proud of how Dani has leveraged her exceptional leadership and relationship building strengths to combat the labor shortage issue, especially within the last year. She has successfully recruited, trained, and retained superior logistics talent within her team and added several trusted carriers to TA’s cold chain network. Because of her dedication to honest, transparent, and consistent communication, Dani also boasts an incredible carrier partner retention rate. The drivers and dispatchers who work with Dani say she’s simply the best. But if you were to ask Dani, she’d tell you it’s a team effort — and she has the best team she could ask for.

“It’s great to be recognized as a woman in the supply chain. I believe that it is important to bring more women into the logistics industry and help them move up the corporate ladder of the industry as well. I want to inspire younger women to be part of something that has been traditionally male dominated.”

Lauren Mollencupp, Implementation Manager for Warehousing

As current Implementation Manager for all of TA Services’ warehouses and former site leader at TA Services’ largest warehouse facility, Lauren understands putting people first. One of Lauren’s primary goals in her former role as site leader was to ensure that employees, primarily warehouse workers, were recognized for their value to the organization. Maintaining high employee morale is essential for any organization, but especially so in warehouses where safety hazards, fluctuating temperatures, and rigorous manual labor are ever-present. As a site leader, Lauren’s main objective was to lead the TA Services warehouse team and deliver an elevated level of service to shippers and carrier partners while maintaining TA’s position as a cost-effective provider.

Lauren has continuously made an impact at TA Services and was recently recognized for her expert influence when she won the 2022 TA Services Core Values Award for Innovation. One of the many reasons Lauren was nominated for the award was an employee reward system initiative she spearheaded to boost employee engagement and morale at the warehouse she oversaw. It was such a success that it became the catalyst for a company-wide employee reward system.

While Lauren’s people-first approach and dedication to fostering a welcoming environment make her an outstanding leader, they are not the only noteworthy traits that make her a rising star in the supply chain industry. Lauren’s combined experience in multiple supply chain roles coupled with her innate curiosity about all things logistics led to her recent promotion to Implementation Manager. In this new role, she helps support all of TA Services’ warehousing and fulfillment operations and sites. Recognizing that the supply chain industry is largely male dominated, Lauren’s leadership and presence in her new role sets an example for other women in supply chain.

“Being a woman in the supply chain, especially warehousing, is currently a bit of an anomaly. I hope to help other women excel and discover a passion for the logistics and warehousing industry. I truly believe in a people-first approach, and I have found this method not only creates loyalty from customers but loyal employees as well.”

Nicole Kunis, Account Manager

During her six years at TA Services, Nicole has been a valued team member and her commitment to supply chain excellence has earned her numerous promotions. From handling and managing entire teams to being one of the top performers in each role she has held, Nicole is a proven asset to TA Services and the supply chain industry.

In her current role as account manager, Nicole is responsible for handling the timely, safe freight transport of approximately 30 clients and is a top performer in volume, margin, and revenue. As a testament to her leadership abilities, her team has doubled in size in a short period of time – bringing enhanced service capabilities to the shippers and carrier partners who work with her and her team.

Having a central focus on improvements, Nicole has been pivotal in streamlining operational procedures and processes. She handles challenges calmly and professionally and leads her team by setting an example of efficiency while concentrating on customer satisfaction. No easy feat considering one of her accounts yields more than 100 loads per day.

“I am truly honored to receive this award. My goal is to break the ultimate glass ceiling of upper management in this industry, and I hope to see other women do the same.”

Nicole Kunis, Account Manager

We are proud to have these three outstanding women on the TA Services team. Their accomplishments and dedication embody TA Services’ core values.

As part of receiving this award, each of our honorees are invited to attend the Food Logistics and Supply and Demand Chain Executive Women in Supply Chain Forum. This educational and networking event is focused on collaboration because sharing industry knowledge and creating meaningful connections is key to a successful supply chain. We are excited to hear about their experiences and any insights they take away from the event (check back in November to hear all about it).
