TA Services Celebrates 40 Years in Logistics, Transportation & Supply Chain Solutions
40 Years. Same Standard.
From regional transportation, mill operations, and brokerage services in 1986 to managed transportation, warehousing, multimodal freight brokerage, and cross-border logistics services across North America.

TA Services was built on a simple idea in 1986: move every shipment like it belongs to us.
Forty years later, the industry has evolved significantly, but that standard of excellence hasn’t.
Today, supply chains move faster, expectations are higher, and freight is more complex. The companies that survive in this industry are the ones who are willing to evolve with it.
And that’s exactly what we’ve done.
What started as a regional transportation, mill services, and brokerage operation has grown into a multi-service logistics partner supporting shippers across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Over the last four decades, we’ve expanded our service lines, grown our geographic footprint, and invested in the technology and infrastructure needed to support increasingly demanding supply chains.
Through it all, we’ve kept the same operational mindset that built this company from the beginning.
Move the freight. Solve the problem. Deliver for the customer.

A Promise from Day One
When TA opened in 1986, the commitment was straightforward: treat every shipment like it matters, because it does.
According to Scott Schell, President and CEO of TA:
“When TA opened its doors, we made a promise to our customers: move their freight like it was our own. Four decades later, that promise hasn’t changed, but everything around it has. The industry is faster, more complex, and more demanding, and we’ve rebuilt this company at every level to stay a move ahead of it.”
That promise has stayed consistent through every shift the industry has thrown at us.
Deregulation. CSA compliance measures. Fuel volatility. Capacity swings. E-commerce acceleration. Cross-border growth. Every stage of logistics has demanded something different from the companies operating in it. And we’ve adjusted our approach at every stage while keeping the same focus on service and execution.
Growing Beyond Our Origins
Today, our capabilities span a full range of logistics services, including:
- Multimodal freight brokerage, including truckload, LTL, and specialized freight
- Managed transportation solutions
- Warehousing, fulfillment, and mill services
- Cross-border logistics across North America
Today, we support customers across manufacturing, automotive, retail, paper and packaging, consumer goods, industrial sectors, and other high-demand industries where consistency, responsiveness, and operational execution matter.
These industries operate differently, their freight moves differently, and their expectations are different. Building solutions that work across those variables is what separates a logistics partner from a freight provider.
Strategic acquisitions and geographic expansion have helped us grow our capabilities, regional coverage, and operational scale over the years. Today, TA operates terminals, warehouses, and offices across North America, including a growing cross-border presence supporting freight movement between the United States and Mexico; one of the most complex and operationally demanding corridors in the industry.
Investing in Technology That Supports Execution

Modern supply chains demand visibility, speed, and accountability.
Shippers today want to know where their freight is, how it is performing, and where potential disruptions exist before they become larger problems. That’s why we have continued investing in transportation management systems, customer portals, and operational technology that gives customers more visibility and control over their freight.
But technology alone is not the solution.
Technology doesn’t replace execution; it strengthens it.
The goal has never been to automate relationships out of logistics. The goal is to give customers better information, faster decision-making, and stronger operational support behind every shipment.
Built by People

Forty years does not happen without people who care about the work.
Drivers, planners, dispatchers, warehouse teams, customer service representatives, carrier partners — they’re the people who answer the phone late at night when something goes wrong, and they stay with it until it’s fixed.
That is the foundation TA was built on.
As Schell puts it:
“I think about the people who built this company. The drivers, the planners, and the people who pick up the phone at 2 a.m. to solve a problem for a customer. Forty years is their milestone as much as it is ours. The customers we have today are smarter and more demanding than the ones we had ten years ago, and that’s a good thing. It keeps us honest, on our toes, and always focused on doing our job: creating better customer solutions and experiences.”
Freight is a relationship-driven business. Always has been, always will be.
And while the tools, technology, and scale have changed over the years, the expectation internally has stayed the same: show up, communicate, solve problems, and deliver peak performance.
Looking Ahead

As we enter our fifth decade, we’re focused on continuing to build in areas where customers need stronger logistics partners most:
Cross-Border Logistics
Freight movement between the United States and Mexico continues to grow in complexity and importance. We’re continuing to invest in the people, infrastructure, and operational expertise needed to support that growth.
Managed Transportation & Warehousing
Customers increasingly need partners who can support broader portions of the supply chain. We’re continuing to expand our managed transportation capabilities and warehousing footprint to meet those demands.
Technology
Operational visibility and data access will continue to shape the future of logistics. We’re committed to investing in the transportation management systems and customer-facing tools that help shippers make faster, smarter supply chain decisions.
Forty years is a long time in any industry, and especially in logistics. However, TA isn’t operating on longevity alone.
We’re operating on a “standard” built through execution, adaptability, and the people behind the work, day in and day out.
The road ahead is about continuing to earn that partnership, every load and every day.
