Celebrating the Drivers Who Keep North America Moving
Nearly 3.6 million professional truck drivers take to America’s highways each day, shouldering the weight of goods, essentials, and commerce. According to the American Trucking Associations, these drivers moved over 11.27 billion tons of freight in 2024 — nearly three quarters (≈ 73%) of all domestic freight (trucking.org). That scale of work keeps grocery shelves stocked, medicines delivered, raw materials at factories, and life’s necessities at our doorsteps — and it deserves our recognition and deep gratitude.
During National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW) 2025, TA Services proudly recognizes all drivers everywhere - from the millions of professionals on America’s highways, to our trusted carrier partners who power our network, to the men and women who wear the TA Services badge with pride. This week is for all of them, and it’s also a chance to spotlight one remarkable story: Jerry Irvine, our longest-serving driver, who recently celebrated 40 years behind the wheel.
Jerry’s four decades on the road embody our commitment to a relentless drive for performance - engineering for efficiency, agility, and resilience — and optimizing every mile with the right technology and expertise.
Jerry Irvine: 40 Years Behind the Wheel

Among the professional drivers who make TA Services what it is, Jerry stands out. This year, he celebrated 40 years in trucking, a milestone that reflects not only his endurance but his passion for the profession. Though TA officially welcomed Jerry in 2019 through an acquisition, his service has been continuous across four decades, weathering multiple ownership transitions while never taking his hands off the wheel.
Over the years, Jerry has earned multiple Driver of the Month and Driver of the Year awards, recognition for the consistency and professionalism he’s carried through every mile.

Today, his story is still being written — behind the wheel of a TA-branded truck, on familiar routes he’s run thousands of times, and with the same steady presence his teammates count on.

Honoring Jerry’s Milestone
This summer, our team gathered to honor Jerry’s 40th anniversary at our Greenwood facility. With his colleagues by his side, Jerry was presented with a personal gift from his team and recognized in a speech by TA Services’ CEO Scott Schell, who highlighted Jerry’s legacy of reliability and leadership on the road.

Driving as a Calling
For Jerry, driving is more than a job — it’s a calling. He’s quick to laugh about the quirks of the road, like spotting creative license plates, but he’s equally quick to credit the people around him. As Jerry put it: “The best part is being out on the road, seeing new things, and knowing the work matters.” Even after four decades, Jerry isn’t planning to slow down anytime soon.
“Everybody keeps asking me when I’ll retire. I tell them: I’ll see how I feel at 40 years, and if I’m still good, maybe I’ll go for 50. I love driving too much to stop.”
