5 Ways to Celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

2023 Driver Appreciation Week - 5 Ways to Celebrate Truck Drivers

This week is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW). At TA Services, we recognize that truck drivers are the backbone of America. They are responsible for transporting everything from infrastructure supplies to life-saving medications. We thank them for getting us the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the essential items we use daily.

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is an annual celebration started by the American Trucking Association in 1988 to show gratitude to the people who perform one of our country’s most demanding yet essential jobs.

In honor of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, we’re sharing five things you can do to show gratitude to the people who keep our country moving with every mile they drive.

1. Express your gratitude

Take a moment to share your gratitude with any truck drivers you know or encounter this week. Let them know you recognize and appreciate the hard work they do every day. A simple “thank you” will go a long way.

2. Provide small tokens of appreciation

Go to your local rest stop and hand out tokens of appreciation. Thank you cards, gift cards, snacks, or coffee are small yet meaningful gestures. If you’re able to, you could even offer to pay for their meal.

3. Support charities

There are several charities focused on supporting truck drivers in need. Donate to one of these organizations, such as St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund or Truckers Final Mile

4. Leverage social media

Promote National Truck Driver Appreciation Week on social media and share messages of gratitude with your network. Use the hashtag #NTDAW23 to spread the word.

5. Practice highway courtesy

Recognize the importance of road safety. Practicing highway courtesy is one of the best ways to support truck drivers in their daily work.

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is September 10th through the 16th this year, but you can share your appreciation any time of the year using the options above.

We’re honoring a small sampling of outstanding truck drivers in TA’s network on our blog by spotlighting their significant contributions to the supply chain and to TA Services. Check back every day this week as we feature a different carrier partner and cover the highs and lows of the truck driving industry.
