Supply & Demand Chain Executive has awarded TA Services for going beyond transportation management, executing a construction project’s complex logistics

MANSFIELD, TEXAS—August 2nd, 2022TA Services, a premier full-service logistics provider, has been named a 2022 Top Supply Chain Projects winner by Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine, the only publication covering the entire global supply chain. TA Services earned this recognition by overseeing the transportation management for a Memphis-based construction project for one of North America’s largest and most experienced structural steel fabricators and erectors. With the help of TA Services, the steel fabricator constructed and erected a building for an American multinational conglomerate holding company whose focus is on transportation, e-commerce, and other services.

Prior to this project, TA Services had already overseen the mill-to-mill transportation services for this steel manufacturer, but the Memphis-based project required customized services that stood out as an opportunity to bring huge efficiency to the manufacturer’s operations.

The Top Supply Chain Projects (formerly known as SDCE 100) hosted by Supply & Demand Chain Executive spotlights successful and innovative transformation projects that deliver bottom-line value to small, medium, and large enterprises across a range of supply chain functions.

With the help of TA Services, this steel fabricating company streamlined structural steel delivery to the Memphis-based construction project. Over the project period of 12 months, TA Services transported 27,000 tons of steel and moved a total of 975 loads with 300 of those loads moved twice – first to the warehouse and then to the construction site. The TA Services team provided convenient storage offsite to guarantee flexibility while ensuring timely deliveries of oversized loads within a narrow 2-hour window.

Ultimately, TA Services’ expertise and support saved the steel company on both costs and organizational headaches since TA Services handled and streamlined many of the services that otherwise would have been allocated to separate vendors. These services included managed offsite storage, additional equipment, onsite personnel, and other tasks needed to keep the project rolling smoothly and on time.

“Our team is honored to receive this award which acknowledges the customized on-site services that our company provided for our customer,” commented Scott Schell, President and CEO of TA Services. “This particular steel company has continued to use TA Services for other major projects, including a bridge construction project which required the transportation of 150-foot-long steel pieces that weighed 175,000 pounds.”

“The past 18 months have been a tumultuous time for U.S. supply chains,” says Marina Mayer, Editor-in-Chief of Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics. “But the core reason today’s supply chains haven’t completely fallen apart is because solutions providers have been working diligently to partner with customers and clients to streamline processes, implement emerging technology and deliver results that improve bottom lines and the environment. For many of these collaborations, it’s about achieving full visibility, complete forecasting, end-to-end leverage and the ultimate in sustainability.”
